Pearls

I learned some years ago that each difficult situation in life is an opportunity to undergo a process of refinement and transformation similar to the process that produces pearls.

Pearls are produced when an irritant enters an oyster’s shell. In an attempt to protect itself from the irritant, the oyster secretes a substance called nacre (also known as “mother of pearl”), encasing the irritant in an effort to seal it off. The buildup of nacre around the irritant results in the creation of a pearl. A naturally occurring pearl is a highly valued gemstone, and has become a metaphor for rare beauty.

So, an irritant surrounded by the protective coating of an oyster can be considered a work in progress—a potential pearl. Similarly, the more trials we face the more opportunity we have to create something rare and beautiful.  Irritants are difficult situations that drain our strength, yet have the potential to produce pearls. But while the pearls are being produced, we must take care of ourselves.  Here are some suggestions that have been valuable to me over the years and that have helped me to love me during the pearl making process:

1. Take “Me Time,” a 15-minute break to think about you and what you need. Hopefully 15 minutes is just a start.

2. Create a “Go to Place,” a safe space full of cherished items (e.g., a silk flower, a journal, a fragrant candle, a favorite pillow, a favorite chair)

3. Set your bathroom up as a spa. You don’t need much: candles, bath salts, bath oils, bath foams, shower gels--whatever you need to relax. Make sure your spa is ready for use at anytime. Do not get upset if others use it when they see how it benefits you. Just keep it replenished for your needs.

4. Shop for cards that make you feel good and send them to yourself. I love opening a card that makes me smile and feel good inside. Sometimes the words are so sweet that I find a frame for the card.

5. Each time you shop for your family get something for yourself (e.g., a candy bar, a candle, make-up, nail polish.) It doesn't have to be big. It just has to be for you--something that will make you smile before unpacking the bags.

These are just a few examples of what blesses me.  Ladies, you are creative people.  Others benefit from your gifts, from your pearl process. It is time that you benefit also. Look inside yourselves and discover the beauty that lies within. Bless yourselves.

A Work In Progress

What Happen To Your Rulership?

My desire is for women to be restored to their rightful place of rulership of Grace, Femininity, Beauty, Temperance, and Excellence.  Together they work from within and shine outwardly. The enemy of our soul works counterclockwise in that he uses the exterior and destroys what is on the inside. There is a direct correlation between rulership and judgment.  In order to effectively rule, there must be the practice of sound judgment.  When rulership is void of sound judgment, a poor rulership is inevitable.  Rulership is a choice.  You can either rule or be ruled.  Walking in rulership is important because it sets order and establishes boundaries.  God (YAH) has given us rulership over our conduct, appearance, and speech.  These things have rulership over you by choice. Rulership is the difference between YAH's people and the world. Rulership is living the way YAH (God) intended for us to live before the foundation of the world. It is time ...

Feed My Sheep

Jesus Reinstates Peter John 21:15-20 New International Version (NIV) When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said,  “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said,  “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said,  “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him,  “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time,  “Do you love me?”  He said, “Lord, you know all things;  you know that I love you.” Jesus said,  “Feed my sheep.     Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”   Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death ...

Umbrella Lady

I have always admired this picture...the elegant lady with the umbrella...It reminds me of an expression my friend often says, " My Umbrella Has Holes ".  She was speaking of her life and some of the things she had experienced.  When I look at this picture I see my friend, an umbrella with out holes, happy, stately and strong. Do you ever feel like your umbrella has holes?  Life can sure make it feel that way at times.  Perhaps you are a single mother raising children on your own; or a college graduate having difficulty securing a job in your field. You may be a teenager feeling like you don't quite fit in. Maybe you are a victim of rape or incest and you feel so violated that you wonder if you will ever regain your life back. Perhaps you are sadden over a  loss of a job,or dealing with a sickness that have you asking, " Why Me ". These are certainly," My   umbrella has holes moments ". Although we may have our umbrella has holes moments/sea...
