Is MakeUp Deceptive?

Is there something deceptive about makeup? I believe it is a topic worth exploring. My interest in this topic awakened after receiving a makeup kit which a family member ordered for me online.  When the item arrived the name on the kit gave me an uneasy feeling because I understood the meaning of the name.  Dismissing the feeling I went ahead and used the makeup I had anxiously waited for. But the Lord brought it to my remembrance again and this time I could not ignore.    The Beauty Industry in the US, which includes hair care and skincare, is a 445 billion market (Forbes, May 2017). The US has the largest cosmetic market in the world. It was expected in 2016 to exceed 62 billion in revenue and is expected to maintain positive growth through 2018, (Market Research.com 2016) In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates cosmetics, defines cosmetics as “intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or

Thankful Sunday

Psalms 18:31-33 For who is God, except the Lord?  And who is a rock, except our God. It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. I can’t let a day go by without praising His name I can’t forget from whence I came I can’t let a day go by without counting the costs I can’t let a day go by without praising His name -Song by the O'Neal Twins This song is my heart anthem.  I am thankful to Jesus for bringing me through many challenges this week. When I thought I was going to fall under the pressure and stress, you caused me to rise up like hinds feet. You prepared a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. When I thought my strength was depleted, You empowered me to be strong. You are the one who upholds me, so that my footsteps may not slip(Psalms 17:5). When discouragement tried to wrap me like a garment, you gave me the joy to go on. It is God who

Psalm 125 Those who trust in the   Lord Are   like Mount Zion, Which   cannot be moved,   but   abides forever.   As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the   Lord   surrounds His people From this time forth and forever. For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity. Do good, O   Lord , to   those who are   good, And to   those who are   upright in their hearts.   As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, The   Lord   shall lead them away With the workers of iniquity. Peace   be   upon Israel!

She Tells Her Grandma That She Just Been Cheated On So Grandma Tells Her To Do This

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God   are   a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. This is a good lesson for all of us, no matter what stage of life you’re in. You’ll see what I mean. A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her – her husband had cheated on her and she was devastated. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as soon as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her grandmother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last, she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the

Happy Mother's Day

John 19:26-27, NKJV 26  When Jesus, therefore, saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother,   “Woman, behold your son!”   27  Then He said to the disciple,   “Behold your mother!”   And from that hour that disciple took her to his own   home. Selah:  to pause, to reflect What day is today?  Today is Mother’s Day!  I want to give a Mother’s Day shout out to my beautiful mother, aka, “Sweet Ruthie” She is a precious GEM, a one of kind. Jesus is our first example of how we are to love our mother.  Jesus, from the cross, sees His mother Mary in grief, says to His beloved disciple John, “Behold thy mother”. I have heard several teachings that say Jesus was making sure that His mother would be provided for after He is gone. There were other children born to Mary and I question why Jesus did not entrust the care of His mother to His siblings? To me, it was a “Selah moment”.  It’s probably just me pondering over this question.  A questio

Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David. When God is silent I am listening      When God is speaking I am silent The blessing for us is to              Hear Him

The Path

Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence   is   fullness of joy; At Your right hand   are   pleasures forevermore. I am thankful for the word of God and His promises.  It gives me peace to know that the God of all creation will show me the path of life.  God has a plan and a purpose for our life and He knows how to take us from point A to Z.  Trust in His promise to show you the path of life. Although His path may not be what we expect, we can trust Him to take care of us. He is a good good Father and perfect in all of His ways, He will successfully bring us through. To some, this may be of little importance, but for me, it gives me joy.

Celebrating Resurrection Sunday He Paid It All For Us

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.   For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17 I am so thankful God so loved the world that He sent His only son Jesus to die for the world. This means whoever you are and wherever you are on the globe, Christ died for you. He died once for all. This Easter Sunday let us reaffirm in our heart that Christ died for all. Its time to move away from focusing our attention on the outward adornment, or which church has the best choir and which church is more prestigeous. Instead let our focus be the cross and the price Christ paid for you and me, to reconcile us back to the Father. As I write this, I want to cry, because we, who say we know Him, take  lightly that Christ died for the world. We tend to want to keep our head in the sand and say my four and n

Palm Sunday

The Triumphal Entry John 12:12-15 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,   took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed   is   He who comes in the name of the L ord !’ The King of Israel!” Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.” ******* Surrender your heart to Jesus today

Better Than Seven Son's

Ruth 4:13-17 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went into her, the   Lord   gave her conception, and she bore a son.   Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed   be   the   Lord , who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel!   And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”   Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him.   Also, the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He   is   the father of Jesse, the father of David. Recently my mother asked me to take on the responsibility of managing her personal affairs. I was already doing so, at a distance (looking over her shoulders), as not to offend or make her feel as if she is incapable of handling her own affairs.  Hearing my mom say those
