Many of us have struggled with battle of the bulge and proper diet. This is not intended to be an article on what to eat or not to eat. I just want to share a precious moment with you. Recently the Lord spoke to me in my quiet time with Him. He said, "Phyllis you need to be more disciplined". I instantly knew what He was referring to. Let me be real with you- For a while I had stopped going to the gym and was slowly converting back into my old eating habits. The Lord didn't say to me lose weight or mention that the food I was consuming is toxic. The Lord said to me, You must be disciplined". My interpretation of what He said is, " Girl, get your butt up from the table". The Lord spoke so sweetly to me that it was enough to brake the shackles of ice cream, cookies and candy. His Kindness is what leads us to repentance, (Romans 2:4). Sometimes we need to be reminded how truly precious we are in His sight.
Miriam was the big sister of Moses. Her name (sometimes rendered as Mary in English) means 'bitter' although it could also signify 'one who loves or is loved by Yahweh'. Yahweh means 'the self-existent one'. Yahweh is one of the ways the children of Israel referred to God. Meet the family Amram and Jochebed were the father and mother of Miriam, Aaron and Moses. Moses was the youngest of the three yet became the leader of the pack (Exodus 2:3-4; Exodus 6:20; Numbers 26:59). Moses was the man who led Israel out of Egypt. As the big sister of the family Miriam knew all the secrets. Women often get to know about things that men don't. When Pharaoh of Egypt decreed the death of all Israel baby boys in a desperate attempt to curb the growth of Israel, Amram and Jochebed put baby Moses into a waterproof basket and set it on the river in an attempt to save his life.
