Renewed Hope


The New Year is finally here and with it brings the hope of new beginnings. The word “Hope” seems to be the buzz word this year.  Person after person I speak to seem to echo the expectancy or desire for something good to happen to them on a personal level. 

Hope is a good thing and without it, most people would probably give up.  Giving up is something I am not willing to do and I hope it’s the same for you. 

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness, Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV”.

 Each day on Gods great earth is another opportunity for you to live your life and do something special.  God has placed great things in you, some known  and some yet to be discovered. 

Recently, I saw the movie, “The Book Thief”.  It is excellent. It is amazing how the worst of times can bring out the best in us. In the movie a young girl befriends a Jewish man her family is hiding during the holocaust. His gift to the young girl is the gift of words. Seemingly so insignificant, but yet life altering.  She later became a writer of books.  The situation for both parties appeared to be hopeless, but God…Thank you Jesus. If you have not seen the movie, I strongly encourage you to do so.

Thank God for hope – I believe God uses hope to make His presence known to us in every season of our life.

Umbrella Lady

I have always admired this picture...the elegant lady with the umbrella...It reminds me of an expression my friend often says, " My Umbrella Has Holes ".  She was speaking of her life and some of the things she had experienced.  When I look at this picture I see my friend, an umbrella with out holes, happy, stately and strong. Do you ever feel like your umbrella has holes?  Life can sure make it feel that way at times.  Perhaps you are a single mother raising children on your own; or a college graduate having difficulty securing a job in your field. You may be a teenager feeling like you don't quite fit in. Maybe you are a victim of rape or incest and you feel so violated that you wonder if you will ever regain your life back. Perhaps you are sadden over a  loss of a job,or dealing with a sickness that have you asking, " Why Me ". These are certainly," My   umbrella has holes moments ".
