This New Line of Dolls With Disabilities Is the Best Thing in the World
This is so magically wonderful.
British toy company
Makies allows kids to customize 3-D-printed dolls to their preferences. Which
is very cool because it allows children to make dolls in all different sizes,
shapes, colors, hair types, and more. And it's gotten even better because they
just announced a new line of accessories so kids can design dolls with
disabilities and/or birthmarks. This includes hearing aids, a walking stick,
and scars.
From Makies:
In recent weeks, the Toy Like Me Facebook campaign (#toylikeme) has rallied for greater
"diversity in the toy box," calling for toys that reflect children in more inclusive ways than the market currently offers. Toy Like Me's Facebook posts of toy "makeovers" by parents of disabled children have been widely shared, reaching an audience of 50,000 and rising — thanks to enthusiastic support from parents eager for positive representation of disability in toys.
