Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power,  Both now and forever.  Amen. Jude 1:24-25 NKJV

Potty Mouth Princess - Totally Unacceptable

Regardless of the message in this video little girls using profanity is unacceptable. It is not cute, adorable or funny. How is this empowering young women?  God help us!

Choking Is Not A Game

According to the Healthy Teens Survey conducted in 2009 by the  Oregon Health Authority , about 6 percent of 8th graders and 7.5 percent of 11th graders reported that they had participated in the game. Boys and girls participate in equal numbers, with black males and Pacific Islander males and females showing the highest percentage of participation. Any young person could be intrigued enough to try the choking game, but it is mostly done by boys and girls between the ages of 9-16 years old. Many believe that the game is harmless. This is especially true if they have participated previously with no ill effects. Parenting expert  Michele Borba, Ed.D.  says, “The Choking Game can be “played” as a dare game in a group and has become popular at slumber parties. Kids take turns “choking” each other or another kid gives a hard bear hug from behind or applies pressure under the child’s heart (usually with the head of the other participant) until the victim passes out.” Thi...

God Made Me An Individual

Whatever happened to individuality and strong confident women? It is a sad thing to say, but we have a generation of young women who prefer to be a clone of someone else than be who they are.   I consider this a lost treasure, because we are born into this world for a purpose.   We each have something to give. Many of you have read, “Little Women”, by Louisa May Alcott.     I love this story primarily because it depicts the lives of four young women who are INDIVIDUALS.   The young women in the story have their flaws, but they are true to who they are.   More importantly, their personality, interests and ambitions do not overshadow the other, but bring forth a certain beauty and tapestry.  The March sisters, Meg, Josephine, Beth and Amy are a very close family unit, but you will never find them trying to be a clone of the other. Meg, the eldest of the four, has a weakness for luxury and leisure, but overall is a gentle and loving person.  ...

From Ordinary to Great

Anyone who studies God's ways soon realizes they are quite different from man's. Worldly wisdom says that extraordinary people and abundant resources are needed for great tasks, yet the Lord often chooses the small and insignificant to achieve His purposes on earth. For example, Christ selected a rather unimpressive group of men as disciples, yet after being filled with the Spirit, they "turned the world upside down." During His ministry on earth, Jesus fed thousands with a child's meager lunch, and He viewed the widow's two small coins as a greater offering than all the other generous donations (John 6:5-12; Luke 21:2-3). God specializes in using people who aren't naturally qualified to accomplish His tasks. Moses was a verbally impaired 80-year-old shepherd who liberated a nation. After Gideon hid from the enemy, God made him a valiant warrior. David was the overlooked youngest son who killed a giant with a small stone and became Israel'...

The Tragedy Of A Wasted Life

Death is inevitable, but at times it surprises us. Perhaps you know someone who died unexpectedly. Today's parable is a warning about such situations. It tells of a man who acquired comfort and wealth but thought only of his time on earth. Death came without warning, and he could take nothing with him. God called him a fool for living focused on "self." Though rich in the world's eyes, the man had no relationship with God and hadn't invested anything in Christ's kingdom. All the treasures he stored here were worthless once he died. What's worse, without Jesus, he would be separated from God forever. What a tragic waste of life. As I think about this person's choices, two questions come to mind that are important for all of us to contemplate. First, if you were to die today, would you go to heaven? Salvation is a free gift for those who trust in Jesus as the acceptable sacrifice for our sin. He is the only way--no excuses or even sinc...

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16, ESV
