Life Changing

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:3-8 NIV I remember the day when I accepted Jesus into my hea...

He Is Risen

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared  and went to the tomb.     They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,     but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.   While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning  stood beside them.   In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?   He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:     ‘The Son of Man  must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’  ”     Then they remembered his words. Luke 2:1-7 NIV

What Is So Good About Good Friday

I often hear young children ask, “What is so good about Good Friday? Jesus was killed and died a horrible death.   True, but the reason Good Friday is good is because Jesus willingly (He could have called His angels to rescue Him, remember?) sacrificed and suffered for us.   There was a purpose in all that suffering.   He knew that purpose and was obedient, even unto death.   He took our sin to that cross so that we could be saved.   Without His sacrifice, we could not be justified to God. On that day, it looked like evil won, but Easter reminds us that this is not true.   Jesus triumphed over the grave.   Death could not keep Him and He rose again! Good Friday was the day wrath met mercy.   Jesus poured out His great love for us and died so we may live.   He did what no one else could ever do-He who had no sin, became sin for us so that we could become the righteousness of God.   That is the good in Good Friday.” By Dr L...

Hosanna To The King of Kings

The Triumphal Entry   The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.   They took palm branches   and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”   Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:   “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;      see, your king is coming,      seated on a donkey’s colt.” John 12:12-15

Youth Restored

God speaks to us in a myriad of ways – you know…His word, blinding light, a donkey – and most recently in my life a beautiful seventeen year old girl bursting with energy and love. You see I went on a women’s “retreat” for lack of a better word for 5 ½ days last week and throughout this whole week of undistracted time with the Lord, He really had an opportunity to talk to me about some things. I was obliged to listen. This particular time with the Lord dealt with many deep seated hurts, longings, issues. In effect – a life changing experience. In an activity that we were asked to do, I used crafts to create something that I had not since I was in elementary school. I truly felt that it was a reminder of youth, fun, spontaneity. I had been accused of being too serious, too “deep” and told to lighten up more times than I care to admit. As a young teenage mother, I learned how to be practical. Now, don’t get me wrong, I knew how to party. There is a truly big difference ...

How Can You Say

How can you say there is no God when the trees lift their limbs in praise How can you say there is no God when the wind blows it speaks His name How can you say there is no God when the stars hale His majesty How can you say there is no God when the heavens declare His glory

In Christ, With Christ and For Christ

in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17), with Christ (Col. 3:1-3) and for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20). Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Cor. 5:17 (NASB) Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. 2 Cor. 5:17 (GNT) In the natural realm our birthday is often remembered and celebrated. But few people know the day of their conception. Yet without conception there would be no physical birth and certainly no birthday. Even Jesus had a conception (Matt.1:18). Our spiritual life begins with a spiritual conception of life. This is what we mean by being in Christ. The Bible uses many phrases to explain this truth - saved, born-again, eternal life, new creation. It begins the moment the Holy Spirit makes us alive to the existence of God, causing us to accept him as our Lord and saviour. A spiritual conception is the beginning of us becoming a new creation or a new being in Christ. It is s...
